Does Central Park need a golf course? Two entrepreneurs’ course development plan is gaining momentum leading up to a citywide vote to approve.

Transcript
Manhattan is an island of . million people.
So by current statistics, that's , golfers.
That's over a hundred thousand golfers
with no golf course in the city to play on.
Which is why we want to build a golf course,
in Central Park.
With your help, all of this can become Manhattan Links.
This is Manhattan Links Headquarters.
Jason and I met working at the same Hedge Fund.
But our passion is golf.
The idea for Manhattan Links came to me
when I realized there's acres of open space
in the middle of Manhattan, and it's not being used.
But what if we turn this open space into a major
championship worthy hole golf oasis.
When Jason first told me his idea, I was like,
that is amazing.
I'm in.
We've done a lot of work on this, and with just a few
permits and the approval of New York's Proposition
this fall, we can make this a reality.
The first step was, we commissioned Ron Whidden,
co-designer of this year's US Open course, to draw up
the routing for our holes.
The playgrounds and the ball fields are gone.
They allowed me to use whatever land I wanted to.
The monuments are gonna be moved over to Grant's Tomb.
People can ignore 'em over there just as easily
as over Central Park.
An empty field becomes a fairway.
An unused oval becomes an aqua driving range.
And trees become more fairway.
And what's so cool about Manhattan Links,
is that it's a multiuse urban space.
A premium golf course during the day, and a
picnic destination at night.
We got so much positive feedback.
Everyone from hedge fund managers to corporate executives.
And we're giving back to the community.
Our Partners on the Green program gives underprivileged kids
a free day on the course to caddy for some
of the richest golfers in Manhattan.
Central Park hasn't changed since .
If I told you the subway hadn't changed in years,
you'd say that's insane.
So why do we accept it with our parks?
It's time to modernize.
Let's finally make Central Park a place where
people go to have fun.
Let's vote yes on Proposition .
I'm voting yes on Proposition .
I'm voting yes on Proposition .
This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard.
Fortunately, he's not the mayor anymore.
So vote yes.
And join us
at Manhattan Links. at Manhattan Links.
